The Opportunity
VHQ Solutions' founders have had many years experience working in e-business support organisations and understand what the common failings of start-ups and young businesses are. The key issues include the breadth of business owner/manager skills, the patchy or expensive nature of management advice and the need for simple pay-as-you-go solutions that are accessible from anywhere. After a short period understanding the market opportunity, we used our own unique knowledge of the SME sector to help the founders develop and clarify the proposition. Using a variety of techniques, including Competitor Analysis, Strategy Canvas, Market De-segmentation and Buyer Experience Mapping, we examined the basis of competition and determined how VHQ could go to market with little competitive interference. Viable marketing channels were identified, including using a virtual team of E-business Consultants in a joint marketing/delivery role – these consultants provide the backbone of the operating model. This was achieved through working openly and closely with the founders every step of the way, which had the added benefit of adding to their knowledge and understanding. We also advised VHQ Solutions on web service technology selection and website development. The Outcome VHQ Solutions successfully launched in January 2008. Before then, they acquired five new clients in financial and professional services who helped by providing feedback to fine tune the proposition. VHQ continue to build client volumes through partners and business support channels, and are on target to achieve their revenue targets and profitability by the end of the year.
